What is a GBbook?

A GBbook is a real Game Boy reading cartridge built around the idea of turning a book into a physical reading experience on Game Boy hardware. Instead of treating the text as just another file on a modern screen, the concept deliberately reconnects it to a slower, more tactile, more object-based format. You read it screen by screen, using the console itself, almost like a tiny retro e-reader.

The idea is very simple: no apps, no notifications, no multitasking, just buttons, text, and a physical cartridge dedicated to one reading experience. It is meant to feel closer to an object you live with than a file you forget in a folder.

That is what makes it different from a simple ROM dump or an ordinary ebook file. It is not only about the text itself, but also about the interface, the physical cartridge, the limitations of the hardware, and the feeling of using an object that turns reading into something more deliberate and strange in a good way.
